Start gathering at character level 10
Essence Extraction levels separately from your character. Interact with an accessible resource node and watch its success and failure gauges. The introductory reference says a failed attempt grants gathering experience but no material.
Choose resources you actually need and can reach, rather than treating one point allocation as a universal optimum.
A staged Global-client allocation
A guide explicitly checked against the Global client on October 2–3 recommends this craft-oriented target:
- Raise Proficient Handling and Delicate Touch toward level 10.
- Leave Lady Luck for remaining Common points.
- Prioritize Odyle, then the resource branch needed for your first craft.
| Intended craft | Resource branch |
|---|---|
| Armor, weapons and guards | Ore |
| Accessories | Gem |
| Bows and staves | Log |
| Alchemy | Herb |
Invest as points become available. A newly unlocked level-10 character is not assumed to have enough points to complete two branches immediately. The same source gives a different Lady Luck emphasis for selling gems, so this plan is not a proven money-farming optimum.
Novice 50: the promotion quest
The Global crafting route describes the city NPC’s green Ruby quest as the path from Novice 50 to Professional. The quest is named [Upgrade] Essence Extraction Specialty Skill:
- Asmodians: Alzirr
- Elyos: Korius
The hand-in needs Splendent Ruby (Bound), obtained while gathering Ruby nodes for the quest. Ordinary Ruby does not satisfy the reported requirement.
If the NPC says you do not have enough items
- Check the quest name and the required bound item.
- Inspect your Cube and storage before farming more nodes.
- Complete the actual hand-in and check the resulting proficiency rank.
An EU Steam Asmodian player reported finding the overlooked item in storage and completing the hand-in. A separate Elyos discussion was marked solved after the item was found. These are player-reported outcomes, not a guaranteed repair.
A completed quest marker, a Professional dialogue label or the Done button is not sufficient by itself: another EU Steam report reached Done but received Not enough items.
If the bound item is still missing
Do not discard the quest item, assume character level 45 resolves the issue, or rely on guessed drop rates. The retained reports do not establish a dependable reset, replacement drop rate or recovery method. Record the quest and item state and contact official Support.
No visual transition to Professional was recorded for this site.
